Monday was my birthday and for all those wondering, I am 57. It happened that my sister who
turned 70 this year was substitute teaching for us that day at school and she hunted me up
to wish me a happy birthday. We talked about how fast the years seem to pass by and I shared a
thought I had earlier with her about that subject. It occurred to me that the fact that the
years seem to fly by is probably an indication that we have had a good life. When I look
at mine, I am amazed that I have gotten to experience the many things I have experienced.
I wanted to be a coach and I did that for several years. I also wanted to be a farmer and
I was able to do that for several years. I wanted to have my family while I was young
so that we could enjoy doing things together and I was able to do that. I wanted to plant
a church later in my life and have been able to do that. In short, I have had a
great life and have enjoyed it very much. I wonder, had my life been less fulfilling,
would it have seemed to pass so quickly? I doubt it.
I thank you Lord, for a great life.
