One of the key points of the interaction between government and education of late
has been that of accountability.  It is stressed in the way the schools are evaluated
according to the standardized tests utilized and required by the state.  It is
required in all the financial aspects of the school.  It is required in the
way we must track students even though they move about from school to school.
It is required in tracking the attendance of each student.  And now it is being linked
to the success students are having in college.  All this sounds good until you
realize that for the most part, the people that make the laws and rules about
this accountability know very little about the process of education and the
problems that schools face in their efforts to
furnish a quality education for all students.

Being accountable is right and should be expected when you are doing
something as important as education, but it is disheartening to see
the lack of understanding of those to whom you are accountable.
God in his judgment understands better than we do and I find that comforting.
