Somewhere on some door post in every home that Bobbie and I have lived in since the middle
70s are (or were) inconspicuous but clearly visible marks. These small marks designate
the growth of our two sons. Periodically we would back them up to the facing and
make a mark as to how tall they were at that particular point. I can still
remember their excitement, as they stood tall and still waiting for us to level
the ruler and make the marks.
Now and then, it is good for churches to back up to the facing and make a mark
which will give some indication as to how that church is growing and last Sunday
evening as Bobbie was going over some records, she ran upon a number
that served as that mark for me. It was a statement she had made about how
good it was to have 115 in attendance last Easter. Not bad until you realize that
last Sunday, we had 109 in attendance. And to put that all in focus more clearly,
the first Sunday in January of 04, we had 75 in attendance.
Thank God for our growth for He is responsible.
