In case you were not able to come, our candlelight communion was a great service in which
my part was quite small. The star/s of this “show” were the children and to me
that was great. As I stated at the service, for so many years we struggled to have
children because it is difficult to get families with children to stay when you don’t
have a children’s program and it is difficult to have a children’s program without
children. The same holds true for teens. Tuesday night, however, we had
teens and children all across the front of the church reading, singing
and acting out the Christmas story. And for me it was a milestone and a great joy.
It amazes me as I continue to see our church grow and change as it matures in God’s
work. The one thing we must do is to never forget that these blessings do not come
from things we do, they come from the God who gives them. So together let us say a
big Thank You to God for a great Christmas season and a great year for the church.
